Big Breakfast Smoothie

I've been pretty much off the whole smoothie thing for about six months now. But the time that I spent on the wagon really became a part of who I am and what I eat - if that makes sense - so I still occasionally have a smoothie for breakfast or for lunch, usually when I'm feeling a little like I'm over indulged.

This morning I've made a super tasty 'Big Breakfast Smoothie'.

Ingredients:
1 banana
1 cup frozen mango (defrosted a little to make it easier to blend)
1/4 cup frozen raspberries
1 scoop protein powder (mine's strawberry flavour)
Spoonful of nutella
Enough milk to make it liquid & drinkable

29g Protein
75g total carbs
58g total sugar

Obviously calorie count will be decreased if you use skimmed milk or even coconut milk/almond milk, or if you veto the nutella or the protein powder. However, I'm not watching calories atm, I'm just trying to eat good food that makes me feel nice :) and this certainly makes me feel nice!

Exercise and Low Calorie Day

As you may know, I use both Fitocracy and MyFitnessPal. I think they're awesome apps and perfect for keeping a track of your fitness and food. Plus I LOVE gaining levels on fitocracy :).

This is the workout I tracked today:
I hope you can see that. I'm very achy, especially after working out yesterday too. I'm planning on having the weekend off, but I may end up popping to the gym tomorrow - we'll see.

Super Yummy Breakfast Pancakes

Morning! I'm off to work today for 4 hours, and when I work these Saturdays I always want to eat something for breakfast that will stop be being hungry until 2pm when I get home. Today, I think I'm on for a winner!

Cassey Ho, off of Blogilates, has started a new webseries entitled Cheap Clean Eats. I've never tried any of her recipes before, because generally I simply can't get hold of the ingredients she uses what with being in England and all. But this one, with a little substitution, I can do! (If you want to make the actual recipe, which is definitely lower calories, click on the link above).

Honestly, eating this I did not feel like I was eating diet food! I'm so full and it was so yummy! You just have to make them :D

Ingredients
1 Quaker Oats So Simple plain porridge sachet
Dash of cinnamon
1/4 cup semi-skimmed milk
1 egg
1 banana
squidge of honey

Basically, just shot it all in your blender (but only 1/2 the banana) and blend until smooth. Then fry like a pancake. I made one thick one, or you could make a few little ones. Then I chopped up the other half of the banana, folded my pancake in half and drizzled it with a little honey :)

Strawberry, Mango, Berry smoothie

In my freezer I have a drawer full of frozen fruit, and when one packs getting low I buy another and pour whats left into another tub. So today I had a tub with some mango chunks, some strawberries and some random cranberries, blueberries and blackberries. Just enough to make a smoothie :)

Ingredients
1 raspberry yogurt
1 tablespoon wheat bran
1/3 cup mango chunks
1/3 cup strawberries
a few blueberries, cranberries and blackberries
~100mL semi-skimmed milk

Whiz it together and there you have it :) I have no skimmed milk left, so semi it is. But it's super yummy and quite thick. So hopefully it'll keep me going through lectures and the gym this morning :)

Forest Fruits Breakfast Smoothie

I bought a pack of frozen forest fruits, but I haven't been having much luck with them. They're just too tart for me, and I can't deal. Today, I had a breakthrough.

Being back home again, I packed some freezer bags with things to make smoothies out of, this morning was forest fruits. And it was divine!

Ingredients
1/2 cup frozen forest fruits
~5 red grapes
1 raspberry yogurt
1/3 cup porridge oats
squidge of honey
~200mL skimmed milk

This was a really thick smoothie, and it was really tasty. It properly kept me going all morning-ish (I made it at 11.30am, and was still drinking it at 1.30pm haha).

Warm Apple and Blueberry Smoothie

This was an odd one. I've wanted to make something warm, because it's so bloody cold here. And I'd been thinking on this recipe and figured I should just give it a go. And it tasted good, but the texture was horrible and it cooled down really quick (I don't think the milk was hot enough) anyway, I didn't finish it.

Ingredients
2 Apples cored, peeled and chopped
1/4 cup blueberries
squidge of honey
1 packet apple and cinnamon porridge
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup hot milk (seriously get it as hot as you can)

Blend it all together until completely smooth.

The texture of mine totally put me off, but other people might not be. So if you try this, let me know :)

Raspberry, Blueberry Smoothie

Good morning!
It's horrible here. We've lost the snow, but gained rain. I hate rain. Made my breakfast smoothie for the morning, going to take it to lectures for 9am. Then off to the gym at 11am, then back home-home to work at 5.30 - yay.

Ingredients
1/3 cup frozen raspberries
1/4 cup frozen blueberries
Dollop of low fat yogurt
1/4 cup of wheat bran
Squidge of honey
Enough skimmed milk to make to volume

Pop the raspberries and blueberries in the blender - then I add just a touch of hot water to soften them a bit (my blenders a bit cack and won't whiz solid raspberries). Add everything else but the milk, whiz together, then add the milk to volume and whiz again.

Yummy :D. It's a bit like a milkshake, cause mine's mostly milk. But I like it. I like my breakfasts to be more...thick, more milky/yogurty, while my lunches can be a bit more lean.
You can of course substitute the milk for apple juice, and add a banana instead of yogurt - if you fancy dairy free :)
