Big Breakfast Smoothie

I've been pretty much off the whole smoothie thing for about six months now. But the time that I spent on the wagon really became a part of who I am and what I eat - if that makes sense - so I still occasionally have a smoothie for breakfast or for lunch, usually when I'm feeling a little like I'm over indulged.

This morning I've made a super tasty 'Big Breakfast Smoothie'.

Ingredients:
1 banana
1 cup frozen mango (defrosted a little to make it easier to blend)
1/4 cup frozen raspberries
1 scoop protein powder (mine's strawberry flavour)
Spoonful of nutella
Enough milk to make it liquid & drinkable

Nutritional Info
540 Calories
29g Protein
75g total carbs
58g total sugar

Obviously calorie count will be decreased if you use skimmed milk or even coconut milk/almond milk, or if you veto the nutella or the protein powder. However, I'm not watching calories atm, I'm just trying to eat good food that makes me feel nice :) and this certainly makes me feel nice!

Paleo(light) Pancakes

Starting off the week right!

This morning I had these pancakes for breakfast. They're the same as my other pancakes, except made with water instead of milk!

Ingredients
1 sachet instant oats (27g)
1 egg
enough water to consistency

Then fry like a pancake :) I had mine with a banana and a little honey.

Another Day in the Sun

It has been very hot here the last couple of days and today's another on. It's currently 28C in the shade and 35C in the sun. To say I'm warm is a little bit of an understatement, but we'll go with that haha.

The problem when it's this warm is I don't get hungry, and I have to almost force myself to drink a lot of water. Of course, if I don't, I get quite sick, as I've found out before.

I had a very yummy breakfast :D
I have no idea what's going on with this photo. It's the right way round on my computer, but I try to upload it and it turns.

Anyway, it's 2 wheat a bix, splash of milk, a tinned pear and a slice of watermelon. Comes to around 200 calories and it was yummy!!

We had a BBQ yesterday and played Formula D, so I have left over burgers for my lunch - yummy!!

Obviously I'm not going to the gym tomorrow, and it's my last resit exam in the morning, but after that I have a very full week! Getting my hair dyed and graduation dress shopping for my friend, visiting Leeds Armouries. It'll be all go :D

Hope you're all having fun in the sun, but be sensible! Wear sun tan lotion and take breaks in the shade :)

Super Yummy Breakfast Pancakes

Morning! I'm off to work today for 4 hours, and when I work these Saturdays I always want to eat something for breakfast that will stop be being hungry until 2pm when I get home. Today, I think I'm on for a winner!

Cassey Ho, off of Blogilates, has started a new webseries entitled Cheap Clean Eats. I've never tried any of her recipes before, because generally I simply can't get hold of the ingredients she uses what with being in England and all. But this one, with a little substitution, I can do! (If you want to make the actual recipe, which is definitely lower calories, click on the link above).

Honestly, eating this I did not feel like I was eating diet food! I'm so full and it was so yummy! You just have to make them :D

Ingredients
1 Quaker Oats So Simple plain porridge sachet
Dash of cinnamon
1/4 cup semi-skimmed milk
1 egg
1 banana
squidge of honey

Basically, just shot it all in your blender (but only 1/2 the banana) and blend until smooth. Then fry like a pancake. I made one thick one, or you could make a few little ones. Then I chopped up the other half of the banana, folded my pancake in half and drizzled it with a little honey :)

Double Raspberry Smoothie

I haven't been very good at posting. But then I haven't been very good with this whole diet thing either. I think the problem is I've been running a lot....like a lot. I've ran like 10k this week using that Zombies, Run! game, so I've been doing bad with the smoothies. I reckon they'd totally keep me going, it's just my mind is telling me to eat mozzarella paninis and shit like that.

1/2 pear (tinned)

Cleaning Out The Freezer

Weekends are for shopping, though I'm not sure when I'll manage to go this weekend, what with work and a wedding fair to go to. So I've been using up some of the left over portions of frozen fruit, so I have enough space to buy more punnets.
Forest Fruits smoothie
Raspberry, blueberry smoothie
Yesterday I made a super purple, thick smoothie. It was really yummy!
Ingredients
Approx. 1 1/2 cups of frozen forest fruits
1 pot cherry yogurt
1 banana
1 tablespoon tinned peaches
squidge of honey
1 tablespoon wheat bran
~100mL cranberry/raspberry juice

And today I've made an equally delicious raspberry, blueberry smoothie.
Ingredients
1 cup frozen raspberries
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1 raspberry yogurt pot
1/2 cup porridge oats
~100mL cranberry/raspberry juice

Mango Smoothie

This is basically a one fruit smoothie. It's not! But it might as well be. It was very liquidy, and I didn't blend it entirely so there were lumps of fruit it in, which isn't always pleasant. It was very tasty though :) and made for a good breakfast.

My lunch was comprised of sliced red pepper, a little tub of peanut butter, a handful of dried apricots and a banana :)

Ingredients
1 cup frozen mango
1 tinned pear
1 tablespoon yogurt
1 teaspoon peanut butter
squidge of honey
~200mL mango juice

I was sick of just making up smoothies on the fly, so the other night I sat and wrote out 9 recipes for me to use this week. I'd been to asda and got some different juice - Mango and Raspberry/Cranberry, and we now have peanut butter in the flat I've got some interesting smoothies :D

Yummy Smoothie!!

This was a brilliant smoothie! Tinned fruit makes smoothies so easy. When I buy my fruit, I go for the cheapest, simply because it's going to be mushed up, so who cares what it looks like?!

Ingredients
3 tablespoons tinned peach slices
1 tinned pear
1/2 cup frozen raspberries
1/2 teaspoon low fat smooth peanut butter
1 tablespoon low fat natural yogurt
~200mL apple juice

Strawberry, Mango, Berry smoothie

In my freezer I have a drawer full of frozen fruit, and when one packs getting low I buy another and pour whats left into another tub. So today I had a tub with some mango chunks, some strawberries and some random cranberries, blueberries and blackberries. Just enough to make a smoothie :)

Ingredients
1 raspberry yogurt
1 tablespoon wheat bran
1/3 cup mango chunks
1/3 cup strawberries
a few blueberries, cranberries and blackberries
~100mL semi-skimmed milk

Whiz it together and there you have it :) I have no skimmed milk left, so semi it is. But it's super yummy and quite thick. So hopefully it'll keep me going through lectures and the gym this morning :)

Forest Fruits Breakfast Smoothie

I bought a pack of frozen forest fruits, but I haven't been having much luck with them. They're just too tart for me, and I can't deal. Today, I had a breakthrough.

Being back home again, I packed some freezer bags with things to make smoothies out of, this morning was forest fruits. And it was divine!

Ingredients
1/2 cup frozen forest fruits
~5 red grapes
1 raspberry yogurt
1/3 cup porridge oats
squidge of honey
~200mL skimmed milk

This was a really thick smoothie, and it was really tasty. It properly kept me going all morning-ish (I made it at 11.30am, and was still drinking it at 1.30pm haha).

Yummy Breakfast Smoothie

This morning I am sick. I have a blocked nose, a headache and a slightly raised temperature. But I've got to go to uni. I wanted cereal this morning, but me and the fiance are lazy so there are no clean bowls - how lovely. I'm washing up this afternoon.

Ingredients
1/2 cup raspberries
1 whole banana
5 red grapes
3 tablespoons yogurt
1 tablespoon wheat bran
~200mL apple juice

Whiz it all together and voila, yummy breakkie smoothie. I only hope I can actually taste it!

Summer Fruit Smoothie

On Friday I made little freezer bags full of frozen fruit to make smoothies with while I was at home, which is great. Except I left them in my freezer and the flat, so over the weekend I was back to normal diet, which was difficult because I'm used to having smoothies, so deciding what I wanted for lunch in Morrison's was hard.

Anyway, this was one of my freezer bags :)
Ingredients
1/2 frozen banana
1 cup frozen summer fruits
3 tablespoons low fat natural yogurt
1 tablespoon wheat bran
~200mL apple juice

This was a super tasty smoothie, and perfect for a morning. It was a little sharp but not too much, enough to wake me up :)

Good Morning!

This morning I prepared two smoothies, as I'm at uni 9-5 (I'm here right now in fact). But I was bad. I drank my morning smoothie - super yummy - but I was so hungry at lunch that I had a mexican chicken and bean flat bread and a packet of crisps. Very not good.

But I've walked to uni and I'll be walking home. Stole my mum's pedometer so I can monitor how many steps and calories I'm burning doing that.

Have to say though, my thighs and my bum's killing me today! That workout yesterday was much more intense than I expected. Hoping that I have enough energy tonight to do Blogilates Muffintopless video tonight, but I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

Anyway.
Breakfast - strawberry banana smoothie
Breakfast was a very yummy strawberry banana smoothie.

Ingredients
1/2 cup frozen strawberries
1 whole banana (chopped)
1 tablespoon wheat bran
1 strawberry yogurt pot
1 tablespoon wheat bran
~200mL apple juice

T'was very yummy and I drank that straight away as I faffed around making the other one.

Lunch - tropical smoothie

Lunch was supposed to be a tropical smoothie, but that didn't really happen.

I do have it, and I am drinking it, but I cheated and ate lots of other things to.

Ingredients
3 pieces of chopped pineapple ring
1/3 cup frozen mango
1 1/2 apricots
1/4 cup blueberries
1/3 cup low fat natural yogurt
~200mL apple juice

Both these smoothies were very yummy. But today's been a bad day. In fact, it's been a bad week. I'm not doing very well lately. I must pick it up the next few days. I'm determined.

Apricot Raspberry Smoothie

Hello :)

Real life is totally kicking my arse at the moment, I feel like there's not enough hours in the day to get everything done that needs doing. But I'll cope, I always do.

This morning's smoothie was so tasty! Very chuffed. Had a Greggs sarnie for my lunch though - not so good. But I've walked to uni and I'm walking to my friends to sign the contract for the new house this afternoon, so that'll help.
